Embracing Nature

SAUTI – YOUTH Project Sustainable Accountability Uniting Tanzanian and Irish young people; it is the youth led and three years project 2020-2023 funded by European Union to empower youth to monitor local government commitments on climate action. In Tanzania it is implemented in Tanga region within two districts Handeni and Korogwe. In Handeni district, it is implemented in all eight (8) villages falling under Mkumburu Area Program same in Korogwe the project implemented in all twelve (12) villages falling under Mnyuzi AP.

The project goal is to enable capacity building to the Tanzanian and Irish youth to fully engage in local Government processes that contribute toward positive climate action by 2023. Through the project the following sustainable development goals will be achieved,

- Sustainable development goal number 13 climate action and its targets.

- Sustainable development goal number 16 peace, justice and strong institutions and its targets SDG 16.6 Develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels and SDG 16.7 Ensure responsive, inclusive, participatory, and representative decision making at all levels. To achieve this the youth will be empowered on how they will make engagement in local Government processes through the social accountability approach and model of making advocacy by involving citizens known as Citizen Voice and Action (CVA). Through this, the good Governance and social accountability will be achieved only when youth will be able to realize their basic human rights and being responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative in decision making and develop effective, accountable and transparent institutions at all levels.
